My painting, The Lemon Tree is a portrayal of life’s contrasts.
The tree represents deep-rooted love and connection.
The lemons represent the creative fruit of our lives.
The clouds: the challenges we face in life that often create a divide between our darkness and light.
The crows: represent our soul partners or messengers who often help us stay balanced by pulling us back into the light.
Victor Hugo said,
“Love is like a tree: it grows by itself, roots itself deeply in our being, and continues to flourish over a heart in ruin. The inexplicable fact is that the blinder it is, the more tenacious it is. It is never stronger than when it is completely unreasonable.” The Hunchback of Notre-Dame
Additionally, the first thought of this painting came from a song, The Lemon Tree. It’s a very light-hearted, sweet-sounding song. But once you research the writer and the lyrics, you realize it’s an interesting study of contrasts. The tone of the music and lyrics betray the dark subject of depression, death, anxiety, and the desire to give up on life.
I hope you like it. There are several options for print.
